Thomasville, Georgia – Flower Foods Inc. appoints A. Ryals McMullian as the next Chairman of the Board. 

He succeeds George E. Deese who announced his retirement as chairman at the 2023 annual meeting of shareholders.

Deese has led the strategic direction as Chairman of the board for the past 17 years. 

Flowers Foods’ has benefitted greatly from his experience, outstanding judgement, and highest level of integrity. 

McMullian joined Flower Foods in 2003. 

He has served as a member of Flowers Foods’ board since August 2019 and was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Flowers in May 2019. 

Flowers Foods’ looks forward to McMullian’s leadership as he continues to strengthen its competitive position, deliver results, and enhance shareholder value during its transformation to a national branded food company.
