The Golden Bean award is a prestigious honor for chocolate companies. For the first time, this award was given to a Canadian company. Hummingbird was awarded the Golden Bean award for its Hispaniola bar made with organic cacao beans from the Dominican Republic. The Hispaniola bar came out on top in the “Best dark bean-to-bar under 70%” category.
The 2016 Academy of Chocolate Awards is a UK-based award ceremony that celebrates great chocolate. The award is internationally recognized and chocolate companies around the world strive to achieve this status.
Hummingbird is a small chocolate company based in Almonte, Ontario. The company is owned and operated by a couple that have a passion for chocolate.
Taking the time to hand sort and roast the cocoa beans is part of what makes this chocolate so unique. The chocolates are crafted in small batches to ensure that each product meets the high standards of Hummingbird.
Hummingbird prides itself on working with farms that put care and love into their craft to grow some of the best ingredients for the award winning chocolate bar.
Currently, the bar is sold online and in the Ottawa area - with hopes that it will be available across Ontario later this year.
