Flowers Baking Co. is opening a modernized facility in Lenexa, Kansas. Flower Baking Co. of Lenexa, LLC is planned to open this summer. The facility, which is a former Hostess Brands bakery, was purchased by Flowers Foods back in 2013. Since Flowers Foods purchased the building, the company has put in an estimated $10 million for renovations.

To start out, the bakery will open with one bread line; Nature’s Own, Wonder, and Home Pride bread will be baked at the Lenexa facility. Approximately 100 job opportunities will be created by opening this location, with hiring already underway.

Flowers Baking Co. of Lenexa, L.L.C. will operate as a subsidiary of Flower Foods, Inc. Headquartered in Thomasville, GA., Flower Foods is one of the largest producers of packaged baked goods in the country. Along with Flowers Baking Co. of Lenexa, Flower Foods has more than 40 subsidiaries that produce bakery products.
